Are we asking to be robbed? Perhaps we are...

Just read this fine piece of literature: http://www.talknerdytomelover.com/home/2010/2/17/foursquare-are-we-asking-to-be-robbed-what-crap.html
Being left with a bitter bile aftertaste, I felt the need to rant a bit. Enjoy:
What's your point exactly? You seem to have a problem with @Mashable simply pointing out to people that they are NOT sharing their location with their buddies, but with THE WHOLE INTERNET.
I just Read The Fine Article, and nowhere do I see @Mashable telling anyone NOT to share their location. Just to keep in mind who they're sharing it with. It's easy to lose track of who's listening when you spend all day interacting with friends and acquaintances alone, so people tend to forget that the whole world is listening to you putting yourself out there.
Got nothing to hide? YES YOU DO. There's always someone out there you DON'T want to tell everything about you. And that person just might have internet access.
To the point:
No one's out to ruin your fun. Go play all you want. @Mashable is just out to make sure ppl KNOW what they're doing when they tell the whole universe where the heck they are. Too bad they have to labeled a party pooper for that.
Update:
Jen responds http://is.gd/8BJup
Now I WAS gonna respond to the above.
It's a decent response and worth the discussion.
Yet I awake to this: http://ow.ly/1oPC9B
I'll respond to the 'terribly funny' 1st paragraph of your second response instead:
Who needs sleep, eh? Quite often, people with a job do.
People who actually put the quality of their work above online discussions that WILL NOT change the world.
I'd rather save my energy to make good products. Maybe that will change the world, maybe it won't, but it does put food on the table.
If going to bed is such bologna, I guess I should stop blogging and voicing my opinion.
You know I won't, but I'll not indulge people who can't think before dishing out feeble attempts at humor.
Yeah yeah, you didn't mean it that way... Maybe shouldn't have written it that way either.

Sorry, t'is too funny to ignore. It's one of the reasons I don't choose Apple products, and yet it's the reason they can guarantee their user experience.
It simply comes down to choice. Want Apple? Play by Apple's rules. Don't care for their rules? Choose an alternative instead.
